Kiarostami film may appear on 2017 Cannes line-up

The Hollywood Reporter speculates about possible films to be selected for the 70th Cannes Film Festival with Abbas Kiarostami film on the potential list.

The Hollywood Reporter columnists speculate about promising films to be chosen for the 2017 Cannes Film Festival with an Iranian film by Abbas Kiarostami in the starting lineup.

Alex Ritman  and Scott Roxborough mentioned some of the most promising films from which the Cannes lineup could emerge and they included ‘24 Frames’ – Abbas Kiarostami as one of the possible films in the running for the 70th edition of prestigious Cannes Fest.

‘24 Frames’ can be “a fitting tribute to the Iranian master (Kiarostami) and two-time Palm-winner if his final experimental film — which had been working on when he passed away in July 2016 — was invited to Cannes,” the column read.

“The festival that arguably loved him more than any other,” the columnists wrote regarding the Cannes and Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami .

‘24 Frames before and After Lumiere’ is a compilation project based on 24 four-and-a-half minute films that he had directed over three years and aimed to release in mid-2016.

Iran’s iconic director, Kiarostami, died in July 2016 at the age of 76. Many national and international events honored the director by organizing retrospectives of his works.

The 70th annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held May 17-28, 2017.
